Shiraka Training Programme, 14th edition in Marrakech (ⵎⴰⵔⴰⴽⴻⵙ)

The Shiraka Training Programme on Public Financial Management (PFM) for the MENA region was held from 19 – 23 September in The Hague and from 31 October – 4 November in Marrakech, Morocco. It was the 14th edition of the PFM training programme organized by the National Academy for Finance and Economics.

Government officials from Ministries of Finance and Courts of Audit from eight different MENA countries travelled to The Hague and Marrakech for a two-week PFM training. The first week of the training in The Hague consisted of training on a number of topics, such as: Macro-Economic and Budgetary Forecasting, Budget Reform and Program Budgeting, Fiscal and Budgetary Frameworks, Internal and External Audit. The participants were also trained on other skills like successful (budget) negotiations and change management for reforms.

The 14th edition of the PFM training programme

The second week in Marrakech was focussed around bringing theory from the first week into practice in a budget simulation and presentations on PFM reforms. The programme was completed with a visit to Morocco’s capital Rabat, where the group was received by Mr. Abdelwadoud Qarouach of the Budget Directorate at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and by Mr. Nabil Larhmam at the Cour des Comptes. 

The participants were awarded their graduation certificate in an official ceremony at the Residence by the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Morocco, Mr. Jeroen Roodenburg.
