The autumn edition of the Shiraka Training Programme

The autumn edition of the Shiraka Training Programme on Public Financial Management (PFM) for the MENA region was held from 18 – 22 October in Dubai, UAE and 15 – 19 November in Amman, Jordan. It was the 12th edition of the PFM training programme organized by the National Academy for Finance and Economics.

Dubai

Government officials from Ministries of Finance and Courts of Audits from Maghreb and Levant countries travelled to Dubai and Amman for a two-week PFM training. The first week of the training in Dubai consisted of a combination of online and in person presentations on a variety of PFM topics. The programme was complemented by a presentation of guest speaker Ms Mona Bajman, Director of Subsidies Budget Division of the Department of Finance of the Government of Dubai.

In Amman the focus was on negotiations in a budget simulation and discussions on current PFM reforms in the participating countries

Amman

In the second week in Amman the programme was all “offline”, and focussed on negotiations in a budget simulation and discussions on current PFM reforms in the participating countries. A visit to Petra and a float in the Dead Sea as essential must-do’s in Jordan completed a very successful week. In total 21 participants completed their training. The Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands in Jordan, Mr. Marc Hasselaar, awarded the participants their graduation certificates in an official ceremony.
